Accademia Dorica is the result of the collaboration between musicologists, historians and expert musicians, specialized in early and baroque music. Accademia Dorica aims to promote local culture, through knowledge, practice and diffusion of early music, with special attention to the repertoire from the Marche region, where it is based, in the heart of Italy. This ambitious project develops in three interconnected fields:
- Education: we host some of the most influential musicians from all over the world to educate young musicians, both local and international, about the repertoire and the performance practice of early music.
- Research: we carry out an intense activity of research, revision and dissemination of local early music.
- Production: a stable core of musicians (both highly qualified professionals and young talents selected among the participants of our masterclasses) is the heart of our ensemble, frequently enriched by world-renowned guests of honour. Hence, our concerts are the result of the educational programs and of the research activity: our performances are always historically informed and with original instruments or exact replicas.
Accademia Dorica is tightly bound to the territory. Based in Maiolati Spontini, the vocation to rediscover local early music expressed itself in a multitude of projects, among which one stands out: the Museo Itinerante (the Travelling Museum) showcases the local culture, not with objects, but with concerts performed where the music was composed, enriched by the contextualisation given by a narrator.
