Matilde Oppizzi graduated at Conservatory of Pavia, where she also got a second master degree in classical guitar and one in lute. She also took part to several masterclasses and post graduate courses with great guitarists such as Sharon Isbin, Carlo Marchione, Claudio Marcotulli, Aldo Minella and many others. She performed in several concert halls and theaters all over Italy, in Europe and in the USA, both as soloist and in chamber music ensembles.
She collaborated with orchestras such as Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, la Sinfonica EUR e la Nouvel Orchestre Tyrrhenia-Corsica. Thanks to her technical versatility, Matilde Oppizzi boasts a prolific career both in ancient music, as an expert on ancient plucked instruments, and in contemporary music.
In fact, she is also active in the field of artistic research and has published several articles on the creation of new idiomatic music for classical guitar and performed at many international conferences. She was part of the artistic committee of the 21st Century Guitar Conference, organized by the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa and International Guitar Research Center (University of Surrey). She moderated and held conferences and masterclasses at: Hands-On Research Symposium 2019 – University of Aveiro, Portugal; Nordic Sound and Music Computing Conference 2019 – KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden; The 21st Century Guitar – University of Ottawa, Canada; University of North Carolina School of the Arts, USA; Kimball Union Academy, USA.
